Born in Havana, Cuba, Dan worked in South Florida television studios as news videographer, editor, sound engineer, and director for live broadcasts. He went on to graduate from New York University's film and television program, working in independent film projects as a cinematographer, writer, director, and editor.

Immersing himself in the world of New York theater, Dan became assistant technical director for the Broadway theater house Symphony Space and video supervisor for the Off-Broadway show Blue Man Group. Responsibilities have included supervising multimedia Wall Street meetings and retail events, providing tech support for international performances, and designing websites for fellow artists. 

Dan continues to work with new media technologies, collaborating with filmmakers, artists, technicians, and educational institutions where he shares his knowledge with colleagues and students.
